final

Macbeth is a noble and honorable man who would do anything and sacrifice his life for his country. He has proven himself in numerous ways and never done anything before now to make anyone think he did this while he was sane. How could he have known better when the women that he was madly in love with; bashed his manhood, brain feed him and made him believe that, that was the only way to get what he was destined to have? Not only was his companion filling his head with wrong things but the witches were giving him information which made what his wife say seem true and motivated him to do the wrong things while he wasn’t in his right state of mind. How is this a intentional crime? It isn’t!
I’m not saying that Macbeth didn’t commit these crimes but he wasn’t himself. At that time his thoughts were very imbalanced and he didn’t know what he was doing. How was he supposed to know that it would’ve led to something much more bigger than just winning the crown and love his new life as king? These events changed everything about him and this only occurred until AFTER Lady Macbeth and the witches turned him into a cold hearted mad man!
Mr. Macbeth has many symptoms of schizophrenia. He experiences hallucinations (for example at the banquet after Banquos’ death. “As sure as I stand here, I saw him!”). Again, how does this show he was sane? He also was mentally abused from his companion and the witches who made him believe things that weren’t actually true. This extreme mental abuse causes Dissociative identity disorder. This explains why he made some cold hearted decisions based on what he was meant to understand by the others.
So why charge a man, who has no control over his decisions, for murder? Is it justice to put a man in desperate need of help behind bars to suffer more than he has already? What he needs is help and in prison he won’t be able to get that. Help from professionals at a mental instiute where he can be treated and monitored 24/7. So my fellow jurors before you make your decision think about someone you care about being mentally abused and not having the opportunity to think for themselves. Would you want them to be put behind bars or seek the help that they truly need?
